Good news first:
1.Carol's research proposal was accepted!
2. Carol's contract was extended for a year!
This past week was a busy one. Thursday morning, early, Carol headed off to Chapel Hill to defend her research proposal. That meant getting up at 4 and being on the road at 5 to get her to her plane by 6. The rest of my day was a bit of a mess due to that. Friday I slept a bit late (prepping for a late evening) and spent the rest of the day doing catch up. I put in two sessions of ellipticalling and burnt over 2000 calories! The second session energized me, allowing me to stay up until 1. Carol's plane came in at 11:40 pm, and we did not get home until 12:30. Long day for her (she did her defense at 10, had lunch with some of her committee members, then took two planes home). Saturday was a relatively easy day, just a little cardio, get groceries, sleep.
This morning I mowed my lawn/weeds. It has been dry the last week and a bit, so it was looking scruffy but not heavy. Taking the rest of the morning easy. Planning Chana masala for supper (yum!).
No weight loss this week. I have been eating properly and working out a lot so I suspect I am building a little muscle. I do see improvements elsewhere, so I am not fussing the lack of movement on the scale.
I met with my practicum supervisor Tuesday. I think it is going to be a great experience, and I am looking forward to this aspect of my masters. Two more semesters to go!!
A record of my life updated at random times and for random reasons.

This was weigh in day, and I am now 17 pounds lighter than I was 8 weeks ago. Even better, while doing some strength training this morning I noticed some abdominal muscles that I have not seen in forever!
We had a fair amount of rain this past week. Everything is green and growing, even my lawn/weeds. I will have to mow tomorrow.
Other than that, it has been a quiet week. Not much going on here, it is the middle of the summer and life is quiet.

The past week and a bit have been quiet here. Started to rain Monday night and we have been getting showers almost daily since then. We need the rain, so I am not complaining. Well, not too much.
Monday's weigh in went well, so far I have lost 11 pounds (since May 17), which works out to roughly 1.5 pounds a week. That is a healthy weight loss.
My exercising has gone well this week. I hit 600 calories burnt on Monday, and stayed above that for the whole week. My weekly total hit 3800 Saturday, so I am very proud of that.
The only problem with additional exercise is the increasing calorie consumption I have to do. I could easily eat enough random foods, but when I try to meet all my nutritional needs and keep my fat and sodium levels low it becomes a problem. Tried eating lots of fruit, but that caused internal problems that I am still recovering from. This week I will see if more grains help, if not I may try cutting out the supplement I am taking. I hear excess calcium and iron can cause problems as well. I am feeling better physically. More energy, more alert and all that so I feel I am on the right track.
The crepe myrtles are blooming, though not as nicely as they did in Raleigh. I will likely have to mow the lawn this week, the weeds have enjoyed the rain.
