Todus Mundus
Here today gone tomorrow, or at least that is how my dream interpreted the phrase. Scary name for a drug, though appropriate I suppose.
The weather improved yesterday, in fact it was a wonderful fall day. High in the mid to upper seventies, no clouds, light breeze, and lots of blue sky and sunshine. Carol and I went for a drive in the country (feeling all suburban and American). One of the nice things about Denton is that the country is only moments away. It was a nice drive. The fall color is just starting to come out, though it may not be very spectacular due to last month being cold and icky.
After getting home I planted some pansies for winter color. It was wonderful to be out planting Nov. 1. After planting, we ate a late brunch, and then back to work it was. Our mini holiday is over.
School progresses at a steadily increasing rate. The semester is nearly over and it feels like it barely begun. This will be a busy month, but it will be nice to have completed one semester.
A record of my life updated at random times and for random reasons.

Early last week Carol's adviser sent her a note reminding her that she needed to be in NC for her oral defense of her comps. After an initial eeek OMG!!, she settled down and booked her flights. She left Sunday, defended yesterday, came home yesterday eve. She did a great job, so another step on the way to Doctor Carol is finished, the scariest one, I believe.
So, Sunday morning I drove her to DFW airport. The first time I was on the interstate system as a driver, and I had no problems. Last evening, I drove down to Dallas Love field, right in Dallas to collect her, no problems. I was driving in Dallas, thinking to myself, I am driving in Dallas. I know this will be weird sounding, but I actually enjoyed the drive. Part of what made it so wonderful was the gps, I did not have to worry about where to turn, most times. It took a lot of the stress out of the drive, especially when I made it into Dallas. So, if anyone wants to come visit, I can come get you. :) Driving the Corolla there and back was a pleasure.
My life is busy, but not terribly busy.I have hit the midterm slump, but I will slog through the wet stuff (flood warning out for this evening, the soil here is moist and can't hold any more water). I am enjoying being a volunteer reference librarian, and last week I got word back, I will be volunteering as a literacy teacher after the new year.
The weather has moderated here. The last few days I have had the windows open all day and the ac has been mostly off. With luck, our power bill will be much smaller this month.
The squirrels here seem suicidal. I drove around all summer and not one dead one on the road. The last few days, I have seen at least a dozen dead ones. Cooler weather must make them want to hide all their nuts??

I am feeling much better now. Still a little congested at times, but that may just be the ragweed.
It rained again this week, big surprise! Historical weather patterns suggest that October and May are the wettest in this area. I feel mossy, or maybe like one of those jackalopes with the huge fungal growth coming out of their heads. Speaking of which, though I have seen a vulture or five, I have yet to see a jack rabbit here. North Carolina was polluted with bunnies, but I have seen none here.
Today we are off to Lewisvile to get some work done on the car (replacement of some missing trim promised by the dealer). Then it is back to work for me. Middle of the semester and life is busy.
What else? All the rain is making the plants grow like weeds, the weeds are getting tall cause I can't mow them, and the front lawn almost looks lawnish.

This has been a week.
Last Friday I began to feel a little icky, the icky faded a bit Saturday, came back stronger Sunday, and by Monday I was colded. Sick. Sore throat, runny nose, fever. I remained miserable until Thursday, began to recover Friday, and this morning I can sit up, look around, and not fling fluids. In fact, I am feeling well enough that I did not take any meds last night before bed and none this morning upon waking. Hopefully recovery will continue and I will be able to get back to it.
Because of my illness, I missed the only class scheduled for this week. I did not get much work done either, my mind was idling. I spent Tuesday watching season 5 of Grey's Anatomy, which was not something I really wanted to do.
Thursday evening Carol talked me into getting a tv (32 inch flat screen, floor model with a few scratches, on sale cheap),and Friday we found a decent used love seat to sit in while watching movies.
We watched a New Orleans movie to test it out. One of the best treatments of the New Orleans debacle I have seen. Trouble the Water is the movies title.
What else? Charlie is a devil cat, full of energy. When he gets the rips, we dare not move any appendage or it gets attacked. Any poor unoffending item that appears capable of providing any entertainment is attacked. Everything is attacked. Here's proof:

Time flies when you are busy. One week since the last post and it sure did not feel like it.
News: still raining. I have seen a few arks being built (this is the bible belt after all).
I have started a volunteer position as a virtual reference librarian. I had my first shift yesterday, and the first question I could not answer. Well, the only question I received, and still not able to find a satisfactory answer. The shift was mostly boring, except for the question which appeared at the very end (last five minutes) of my shift. I learned a great deal from one question, and I will be able to bring that into the next transaction I am engaged in. My next shift is Friday and is three hours.
A big storm rumbled through Monday night. Our power went down for almost an hour, and the surge burnt out my monitor. I had to go hunting for a new one yesterday, and I found a large but cheap one. I have acreage of screen space. I wish I were rich enough to get one of them huge 32 inch monitors (or bigger?), or maybe three or four of them? :) Technolust engages. gimme gimme gimme more shiny and sparkly things. Maybe I was a crow or magpie in a previous life?
I have a plethora of assignments due this week and next. From my schedule, it looks like nothing slows down until December. I think I will drive to Bermuda and spend the fall watching the surf.
Charlie is getting huge!
The car runs well (knocks on wood.
I am off to make some pesto (basil plant is producing at an amazing rate). Early supper tonight, and then off to class. It is going to be hard to stay awake tonight. I am tired now.
